Stressful week of pitching and traveling and not getting enough sleep and trying to solve problems in my sleep thus ruining the restfulness of said sleep. Not to mention planning to move our of our place by the end of the month and Niko’s ever-expanding human-like-ness. If I didn’t have so much to do, I’d take a day off. Power through, Benson!

moving adds so much stress to whatever is already going on. exponential. maybe you could have a formula in here somewhere for those life stressors? :) not to give you more work or anything….

Buster Benson, in the Orange Bracket, played Tuesday February, 1st for 66 points, following 100% of his 5 rules. He didn't lose any life points and therefore got 1 piece of fruit for the hard work. His public review of the day was…

Starting the new month, sort of relieved to have easier rules since it’s gonna be a doozy with business stuff and also moving to a new place.

Stressed by lots of things, but they are all GOOD things to be stressed about. And, strangely, I feel like everything is going to come together just fine. Taking it a bit easier this month though… 4 rules instead of 12.

i am taking it easier this month too since I had 14 rules last month. I cut it back to 7. All your changes are going to make life so awesome! if you guys need boxes for the move let me know. i have access to tons of boxes at work.

Remember that it’s supposed to be fun! (you probably/hopefully do, having reduced 12 to 4 rules) – Good luck with the move

Lots of things moving forward at once. New apartment (which means we need to sell our house), new month of Health Month, new business stuff. I feel a little manic, and hope I don’t run out of energy before the real work needs to be done.

Buster Benson is fruit-hungry.

Heart.full.16 12 · 8,096 pts

I lost 3 life points because of the following things…
  • Didn't cook dinner
  • Drank 2.0 alcoholic drinks
  • Didn't take a multivitamin

I was in SF for the day, and exhausted and sort of decided that a little cheating was in order. The hamburger and beer was delicious though.

Ian — I would LOVE to! I have been making such tiny short trips down there due to what we call “the baby sitch” that I’ve had almost no time to see friends! I’m going down a lot though, so one of these times will work out for sure. I need your number!

Thanks for the fruit, all!

This was my cheat day, but I forgot to take my supplements and vitamins. Lost some serious life points as a result. And ate at Mama’s. Felt sick after. What’s up with that?

I have had a big problem with this lately. My body lets me know BIG TIME when the food I ate a few hours prior is not the healthy stuff it’s used to getting. Bummer, I know :-(

Do you feel the supplements doing anything or are you changing too many things at once to reliably say?

Buster Benson had a couple thoughts.

Heart.full.16 12 · 8,096 pts

How is everyone feeling after the first week? Are the worst of the withdrawals (if you had any) going away now? Will week 2 be as (or more) successful as week 1? Let’s do it!

:) bellacorsa

The first week has been awesome. I’m concerned about week 2 and further on as school gets back into full swing and I don’t have as much time to dedicate to things like cooking and exercise.

:) sara

My first week has been pretty good, although not perfect. But I’m really proud of how well I’ve done with some of my rules, especially exercise and meaningful work. We’ll see how things go when I get back home from vacation on Monday (have been visiting my parents since Christmas). I think some rules will be easier – like limiting non-homemade sweets – while others will be tougher – like exercise (my parents are big gym rats and take me along, which is great motivation, plus they have a way nicer gym than me!).

:) Lauren137

My food related goals have been a cinch – I’m pleased that it’s been easy to avoid coffee and my beloved cherry coke, and I’m cooking more to avoid HFCS. Turning off the internet by 1030 has been a fiasco. I’d made the rule because I thought being online was a barrier to settling down for the night; instead, I’m realizing it was a big paRt of my wind down ritual – checking calendars and email for work and home to reassure myself that things are taken care of and to prep for the next day. Not being able to do this at bedtime seems to have a negative impact on my sleep, which makes me feel like it wasn’t a goal that’s benefiting my health. I’m going to keep following the rule as best I can – maybe there’ll be a benefit to it later in the month that I haven’t anticipated – but it’s been a little discouraging.

:) Lauren137

Thanks, natalya – I am pretty outcome-driven, so I hadn’t thought of things in those terms. Good perspective.

:) Buster Benson

This is why I love to think about improving health as a game. It’s okay to lose a few lives in a game… just keep playing, get better, and eventually you’ll master it. In this case the mastery is our own behavior.

And Cali… don’t be afraid to ask for healing when the time comes.
