Well much has happened that is good, still I really set up too many rules. I will not do this next month, it’s been a bit more stressful then helpful in someways. In the game way. Some very positive changes have been happening, especially with my diet and exercise, but I feel like those things are overshadowed by my failures and that is really too bad. Lesson learned, but man I have a hard time not over doing it. The month is almost over and I have to make a game plan for next month. Any suggestions as to how you have been most successful and made the most positive change through working with Health Month would be appreciated.

Folklife again today. We saw some amazing music, very inspiring day and we left before we got too burnt. I needed a boost musically and I got what I was looking for.

I’m realizing that I do much better with the adding rules then subtracting and when I add things I naturally subtract. I think next month I will focus on adding more and subtracting less. I just think it will work better with the way my mind works.

After sweating and dancing around for an hour at my exercise class I felt so clear and relaxed. On the way home I knew so much would fall into place if I could work out like that a few days a week. But I got home to a screaming baby, screaming as she does from about 15 minutes after I leave until I return. It’s heartbreaking for me and I wish she wasn’t so miserable without me. I’m working on getting her used to others, but it’s slow going. I still feel great from the work out, so I need to figure out how to make it work, maybe I’ll have to do a videos for a while, I know there are some good ones.

How old is your baby, Ivory?

can you work out during her naptime? Does she take a nap? who stays with her? How old is she? (I’ve probably missed a lot this month, sorry). You may have answered these questions earlier. . .

Thank you for you replies. She is going to be 6 months this week. She is a wonderful, sweet, very easy baby as long as I am around. If I’m not she lasts about 15 minutes and then starts looking around for me and get really upset. She mostly hangs out with me, I am working very little and what I am doing is from home so I am with her, also on too much of a budget to afford to pay someone to take care of her, the catch with staying home. Trying to figure out a way of doing an childcare exchange or something so she can get used to being taken care of by someone besides me. My husband really tries, but she just wants her mommy and I feel pretty divided. If I don’t leave then she will never get used to me being gone, but I hate seeing her like that and think that maybe if I wait it will be easier later, but not sure it works that way. I am going to try to do something while she is napping, that is a good idea, if I could just get into the habit of it. I have always done better when I have a class or out of the house, but considering the situation this is a good chance to turn over a new leaf a gigantic leaf that weighs 40 lbs. Thanks again for your comments.

Ivory Smith needs fruit, badly.

I lost 1 life point because of the following things…
  • Ate something with added sugar

I was at a cabin all weekend with friends, ate too much sugar, but hadn’t gone over. Today as we were leaving we stopped at a mom and pop place and I couldn’t resist the rhubarb pie, my husband wanted to share a piece and I didn’t bat and eyelash. It was good, but I didn’t need it and especially after a weekend of indulgence. So not a really great excuse, just an explanation. I am going to recommit to getting off of sugar.

I am realizing again how hard I made things this month and aiming at doing my best. I have lost more life points then I expected, but also been making amazing progress. I think I just made too many rules and made them harder then I could really deal with. I want to succeed, but also feel that this month, my first month after several year is a learning experience. But still I think I can, I think I can, I think I can finish this game with life points to spare.

Well it seems like things are falling into place. Finally getting some time to work on recoding a song I need to rerecord for my portfolio. It been at the top of the list for the past two weeks and I have been getting docked for not working on it. Sometime thing seem so hazy and difficult and other times they just flow. I have to ride the wave when they start to flow. Mother’s day was lovely, my first one. Hung out with two of my mothers and then had a BBQ with some old friends, blue skies.

Thank you so much Grace. I am so happy to be on the team. I am a friend of Paula’s from Alaska, in Seattle now. I started a few years ago and we were on a team together then, took a few years off and now back for more. The team seems really positive and I look forward to becoming part of the community. Thanks again.

Ivory Smith, in the Purple Bracket, played Wednesday May, 7th for 296 points, following 88% of her 17 rules. She lost 2 life points for missing the following: allow 5 alcoholic drinks a week, work on career 3 hours a week at least 6 times a week. Her public review of the day was…

Today I made the choice to drink two glasses of Prosecco at a potluck, knowing I would loose life points, but over all it is the last day of the week and although I did not meet several of my goals, I did meet most of them and feel that I really put a ton of effort into the shifting pretty ingrained habits. I walked 8.5 miles this week and ate lots of veggies, not much sugar, took a yoga class, so lots of good stuff. Did not work on my Career much, really had a hard time with that. Super blocked around it and not sure what it means really, what counts and what doesn’t. I have to define it more. Also more alcohol than I thought I would do, but there were several social gatherings, I can better prepare this week for that huge shift. Lots to look forward to.

Interesting how when one part of life gets back in balance another one tends to start falling apart. Two days in a row of long walks and stretching and the house is looking a little trashed, but I will find the balance. This is my first month back after a few years of not playing. I am excited and inspired already, but realizing that I really made some tough rules and alot of them. I underestimated how difficult trying to do everything on my list of rules all together, every week. This week I have been getting used to new habits and it has been a challenge. I have to remind myself that the reason I decided to play this game is to create balance and health, not to earn point. If I loose points this week it doesn’t mean that I have failed, it just means I am learning how to incorporate new things and this is part of the process, it’s very important to keep trying. I think that next week will go more smoothly.
