Help! I have no good excuses. I just had a HORRIBLE month in a lot of ways. I’m working on it, and i’m actually pretty enthused about next month. But i’d like to “win” this month, and i don’t think i will if i don’t get some help.

Is your nine cups actually 9 eight ounce cups of coffee or nine times you drink coffee, with the size varying? (My cup of tea is routinely 20-32 ounces, depending on whether or not it’s iced. See also: my soda. snort)

If you’re only getting 72 ounces of coffee a week, I seriously doubt that it’d be a big problem. If you got rid of the coffee rule and then decided to mainline using an IV drip, well, that would be a problem.

This has been a great journey…but my rules were a lot harder than I thought….health month kept me on check tho. Gotta keep on keepin on

Ran errands, getting paperwork I couldn’t find. Missing my bus stop meant I got my walking & exercise quotas in. Read some of Robert Crumb’s Genesis to four-year-old for bedtime, at her request. We also painted some more of the tea set.

My rules for March:

As I posted about a while ago, I will be in France for 10 days in March on a spiritual retreat at the Taize community – and thus away from the Internet and my usual environment. With that in mind, I’ve chosen seven rules for the month that I think will still keep me on track while I’m at home without draining life points while I’m away.

1. Write or call grandma at least 1 day a week. I had this rule in January for the first time and have kept it ever since. Even though I really value staying in touch with my grandma, it is really easy for me too let it slip when I get busy, so this is a good reminder and I love having more of a connection with her.

2. Do meaningful work at least 5 days a week. At home, this will be work on my dissertation. In Taize, it will be work to support the community (each person pitches in to help with food preparation, clean-up, etc.). Both meaningful, just in very different ways.

3. Eat brightly colored vegetables at least 6 days a week. Instead of my usual array of fruits, greens, and bright vegetables rules, I’m collecting these all into one rule for the month, but aiming for at least 3 veggie servings. (I think fruits are enough of a habit at this point that I don’t absolutely need the rule.)

4. Meditate for at least 5 minutes every day. At Taize, this will be easy to fulfill, but I want to keep up the practice the rest of the month as well, especially with it being Lent for most of the month.

5. Floss at least 5 days a week. I would love to say this has become enough of a habit that I don’t need the rule, but I totally do!

6. Take my medication every day. I’ve just started on a new allergy medicine that is working AMAZINGLY, but I have to remember to take it every day, even when I’m not having symptoms. Hopefully this will keep me on track!

7. Do weight training at least 2 days per week. This is the one I know I likely will not be able to keep while I’m away, but I think keeping track of it is really important to me maintaining the habit, so I think it’s worth losing a few LP’s.

Can’t wait for tomorrow…I think it’s going to be an awesome month!!
