April didn’t work out so well for me. I more or less gave up. Work at the beginning of the month was grueling, and the end of the month was pretty much taken up with recovering from the grueling beginning. I did, however, practice my banjo every single day.

For May, I’m taking it down to three rules. May has only four ridiculously draining workdays scheduled, which is a big improvement over April. I’ll work out my battle plan for them this week.

Seems like April was rough for a lot of us. We get another chance next month!

Also, banjo, yay.

Since y’all are so kindly offering, here’s my plea for fruit! This was a very up-and-down sort of month. But! Yesterday we finished the masters for the record and I have them in hand and ready to send to the printer. So exciting!! Hopefully this means I’ll have more time in May for healthy eating and lots of yogaaaaaaaa :D

A Note For Our Wonderful Newer Team Members:

Some suggestions for the end of the month:

1. Plea for fruit and/or heal yourself BEFORE the end of the month (to bring your Life Points as far up as possible). This is for the benefit of the team’s standing. I myself am barely aware of that aspect of the game (we are ranked against other teams), but it is still there, and some of the people on the team do care about that. We were first or second a few times, which was fun!

2. Go to the bottom of the screen and click “Next Month” then “Choose rules”, and choose your rules for next month. Don’t forget that there are custom rules you can use to tailor any imaginable rule to your liking. When you are satisfied with them, click “Sign”, and then either pay $5 or apply for sp0nsorship. I unfortunately don’t have any chips to give away this month.

3. Go to the TeamGraceNotes Team Page, and on the left under the profile pic, click “apply to be on this team” for MAY. (We have to “ask” to be on the team each month). Any questions ask Grace (Our team leader).

4. To totally wrap up your game at the end of each month (after you have played your last turn), go to the bottom and click “your current game”, then click “your last turn”, then when the page loads, click “click here” to see how you did. The game will walk you through about 6 questions about how the game worked and didn’t work for you that month. Sometimes once you complete the questions, the Game gives you a free sp)ns)rship chip to Sp)ns)r other people with. To check to see if it has given you a chip, just go to “Next Month”, and the click “Sp0ns0r People”, and at the top of the page it will say “You have __ chips to give”.

5. Feel free to ask me questions and I will try to answer!

6. See you next Month!!

:) Em

Feeling generous?
Have more than enough FRUIT?

Well, for those with LOTS OF FRUIT TO SPARE :

You can make your own Plea for fruit
(even though you have so much, it’s the
only way to give yourself fruit)

and then…

GIVE YOURSELF ALL THE FRUIT YOU HAVE

and then…
you can give the extra Life Points
you got from all that excess fruit
to those who haven’t got lots of ’em.

To give others Life Points,
click on their highlighted name and it’ll
take you to their Profile.
Under their profile pic, it will show you
a place to “Donate Life Points”
and just donate yer extra Life Points
which you just transformed from all
that luscious fruit!

Just a thought…

Today, I hit 25% of my fundraising goal for Team in Training! I’m so pleased. I have 5.5 months to raise the rest of the money, and the fact that I did this much in only five weeks makes me feel proud and hopeful that I will be able to go above and beyond my goal in the amount of time I have. The training for the race doesn’t begin for another 2.5 weeks, though, and I am getting antsy.

Boy Jr. drew a picture today at school. It was a redheaded woman and a man with a figure in white between them, and a character to the side of the man. He said, “I drew a picture of you and my daddy getting married!” I asked who the smaller person beside his daddy was, and he enthusiastically said, “That’s me!” I asked who the person was in the middle and he said “You know when you get married you have to have someone, like maybe a police officer, in between you so he can hear what you’re saying and make sure it’s all legal?” That tickled me pink :-) We’re taking it to the frame shop tomorrow. It is one of the most touching things that’s ever happened to me! Though, for what it’s worth, we have already confirmed our officiant and she is not, in fact a police officer. Hope that’s OK with Boy Jr. ;-P

Does anyone have any experience with vegetarianism in the context of endurance training? It’s just an idea I am toying with very loosely, but I’m wondering if it has the possibility of enhancing my health/running. Thoughts?

I hope all are well out there. April was amazing, y’all. May will be, too.

Very happy with April and learned a lot along the way. The bestest best part of the process, though, is definitely being able to share it with others who are similarly inclined and provide such a healthy, fun, funny, educational and inspirational environment in which to do so. The quality of the journey is definitely enhanced by the astonishing fellow travellers. That’s you, guyz. Thanks!

Seeing as it is the last day of April!
“;”;“;Confetti Fall”;“;”; I am posting this here instead of way down the page. Prompted by Mary Ann’s bat sighting I read about bats.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_brown_bat
The average sleep time of a little brown bat in captivity is said to be 19.9 hours per day. This long period of sleep is thought to be a way of conserving energy, by only hunting for a few hours each night when their insect prey are available.

At least in Ontario, brown bat mating occurs in two phases, active and passive. In the active phase, both partners are awake and alert. In the passive state, active males try to mate with torpid bats regardless of their sex.

Since little brown bats live in a temperate zone, they must find some way of dealing with winter. Most temperate bats either migrate or hibernate, but little brown bats do both.

No bat post is complete without link to Stellaluna.

SylvieF, in the Green Bracket, played Monday April, 30th for 138 points, following 87% of her 8 rules. She lost 1 life point for missing the following: limit this custom thing 2 days a week. Her public review of the day was…

A good last day of vacation and of April – I meditated, did much good work on two projects, and walked awhile in the late PM sunshine. Things are generally going fine.

The one exception is worse gut health lately. I’m really frustrated. I rail against this situation, and some part of me keeps expecting the Universe to recognize how unfair it is and make it stop. But of course that doesn’t happen; you don’t bargain with the Universe. I do know this, and yet . . .

Next month I’ll try limiting both gluten and sugar. No idea if this will help. It can’t hurt, though. I’m going to keep trying. Aside from this, I’m pretty darn healthy and therefore very lucky. Yep.

“much good work” — fabulous!
“things going fine” — hurraaaay!

“gut health” — so sorry to hear that this keeps plaguing you.
( candida just came to mind – I’m sure you’ve covered that in your investigations, but thought I’d mention it just in case)

Sylvie, you’re a real trooper. I’m familiar with that feeling, of wanting to bargain with the Universe. That you can maintain perspective, in the face of continuing physical discomfort, is an inspiration. I’m glad you’re ending April in a good space.

Wow, another good day. Worked hard cleaning a house for my client Debby, who has become a close friend over the years. What a spectacular woman, I just love her. Anyhow, rode about 6 miles tops, which is fine.

I have mixed feeling about having to report that this is the first month in well over a year in which I have gained, instead of lost weight. I gained either one or 2 pounds. Hm…. On the one hand, I am dissapointed and a bit nervous about it, hoping very much that this does not happen again next month!!! On the other hand, I am very accepting of myself, and I know that I probably “needed” to loosen up my firm expectations of myself and take off some of the pressure for April. Some of the thought processes I have been using to will myself into staying motivated just needed a rest, I think, and a re-vamp to be realistic. I think the main outcome is that I have reset my mini-goals: By my birthday In September I hope to by down to at least 150, and my December, I firmly want to be down to 138, my 100 pound weightloss goal.

Anyhow, I look forward to HealthMonthing with you again in May! Thanks for being such a great support and for staying engaged with the process. Congrats on completing April everybody!!!
