Lots of challenges coming up in April. Lots of opportunity as well…..just wait and see how it all pans out. I’m looking forward to incorporating meditation back into my routine. My mind is settled enough for this to happen. I am looking forward to another month of communicating with my teammates.

I think it does but I wasn’t sure if you’re supposed to stick to straight water. I drink tea when I’m at work so that would make it easier to get to the right number.

Even though tea is a mild diuretic, the water that gets into your body from it is way more than what comes out because of the diuretic effect. I would count tea (or especially wet fruit, like watermelon) as water.

I was reading up on what the Mayo Clinic has to say on the subject yesterday (http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/water/NU00283). It’s pretty useful information and agrees with what Shannon was saying that you’d lose some but retain more.

FWIW, Weight Watchers (which usually goes by FDA guidelines) says to drink 6-8 cups of any liquid (caffeine is OK, alcohol doesn’t count) each day.

i think it counts! to me, it’s about the same as having cucumber in your water. but that’s just me. maybe you can try the tea this week, and shoot for water next week?

I have six rules this month, and they’re different than previous months. I’ve set the bar high on a few things, including volunteering for ten hours a week (though I’ve given myself an escape hatch – a knitted washcloth can count as one hour, even though it only takes me about 45 minutes. I can theoretically volunteer on the bus!) My breakfast rule is staying because I’m afraid that I’d go back to eating just a toaster strudel in the morning if I abolish it.

Started the month by doing a 5K this morning, my first race of the year. It felt really good to be back out there, but it also reminded me of how much work I need to do in order to do another half-marathon this fall.

Quinnie, Mary Ann…it’s my new Plan for post-guest recovery. D said, as he wandered through the kitchen yesterday afternoon, unshaven, disheveled and half-dressed, with a couple of buttered hot cross buns in his paws and crumbs on his chin, “You know, I love having guests and that was really fun. But it’s nice to just have the house to ourselves again, too.”

He NEVER makes observations like that so it really reinforced what Quinnie said recently, too. We agreed to plan a total down day regularly, post-visitor, because we have a bunch of visitations on the calendar now for the rest of the year.

Happy April Fools! I have to admit last month was really hard for me. I took 3 trips, 1 for work, 1 for play and 1 for both. It was hard for me to stick with my rules. I’m recommitting to my rules this month! Checking in every day is the best way for me to be on top of my health.
