This was a big day for me.

I started to lead my first Purification Program and seven committed women showed up to be my first group.

I love teaching/educating/listening/sharing.
It went very well. (the next one will be shorter. ha).

Welcome to May and new beginnings. I should be much more regularly present for this upcoming month.

and FYI If you’ve experienced a glitch in getting on the team just try again. Paula, I know we’ll make it work!

Managed to avoid getting to the airport late (possible snarled traffic due to road construction around the Golden Gate Bridge). My daughter and I had an evening together and stayed at a Marriot just miles south of SFO. A wonderful time, altogether.

which then lead to her getting on a plane and flying back to Amsterdam. Great visit.

Spent most of the day researching costuming things and now I have all sorts of ideas for costumes and things to make, but I have a very limited amount of funds and not very much time to work on these sorts of things. I’m also not allowed to spend any frivolous money until after the camping trip at the end of May, although I did buy 2 pairs of metallic leggings yesterday. (On sale for $10 each!)

And I also have to spend something like $100 on embellishments for my cabaret costume. Ick. Goddamn glass beaded fringe.

April didn’t work out so well for me. I more or less gave up. Work at the beginning of the month was grueling, and the end of the month was pretty much taken up with recovering from the grueling beginning. I did, however, practice my banjo every single day.

For May, I’m taking it down to three rules. May has only four ridiculously draining workdays scheduled, which is a big improvement over April. I’ll work out my battle plan for them this week.

Today, I hit 25% of my fundraising goal for Team in Training! I’m so pleased. I have 5.5 months to raise the rest of the money, and the fact that I did this much in only five weeks makes me feel proud and hopeful that I will be able to go above and beyond my goal in the amount of time I have. The training for the race doesn’t begin for another 2.5 weeks, though, and I am getting antsy.

Boy Jr. drew a picture today at school. It was a redheaded woman and a man with a figure in white between them, and a character to the side of the man. He said, “I drew a picture of you and my daddy getting married!” I asked who the smaller person beside his daddy was, and he enthusiastically said, “That’s me!” I asked who the person was in the middle and he said “You know when you get married you have to have someone, like maybe a police officer, in between you so he can hear what you’re saying and make sure it’s all legal?” That tickled me pink :-) We’re taking it to the frame shop tomorrow. It is one of the most touching things that’s ever happened to me! Though, for what it’s worth, we have already confirmed our officiant and she is not, in fact a police officer. Hope that’s OK with Boy Jr. ;-P

Does anyone have any experience with vegetarianism in the context of endurance training? It’s just an idea I am toying with very loosely, but I’m wondering if it has the possibility of enhancing my health/running. Thoughts?

I hope all are well out there. April was amazing, y’all. May will be, too.

Very happy with April and learned a lot along the way. The bestest best part of the process, though, is definitely being able to share it with others who are similarly inclined and provide such a healthy, fun, funny, educational and inspirational environment in which to do so. The quality of the journey is definitely enhanced by the astonishing fellow travellers. That’s you, guyz. Thanks!

Seeing as it is the last day of April!
“;”;“;Confetti Fall”;“;”; I am posting this here instead of way down the page. Prompted by Mary Ann’s bat sighting I read about bats.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_brown_bat
The average sleep time of a little brown bat in captivity is said to be 19.9 hours per day. This long period of sleep is thought to be a way of conserving energy, by only hunting for a few hours each night when their insect prey are available.

At least in Ontario, brown bat mating occurs in two phases, active and passive. In the active phase, both partners are awake and alert. In the passive state, active males try to mate with torpid bats regardless of their sex.

Since little brown bats live in a temperate zone, they must find some way of dealing with winter. Most temperate bats either migrate or hibernate, but little brown bats do both.

No bat post is complete without link to Stellaluna.

I just checked out the “storylineonline” site, Bridget — it’s great!

Two of my favourite parts of the Guji Guji story:
— “The mother duck didn’t notice. She was reading.”
— And did you notice what’s hanging from the bridge? Three bats! :-)

I remember a perfume of the 50’s. I think this is it. Plus I just love it that credit is given to the NOSE.

Muguet du Bonheur was launched in 1952. The nose behind this fragrance is Michel Morsetti. Top notes are neroli, bergamot and lily-of-the-valley; middle notes are jasmine and tincture of rose; base notes are musk, sandalwood and heliotrope.
