With some input from the condo salesperson, figured out a list of critical things that need to be scheduled and done. Sent out an email that covers a couple of them.

I really need to outline a critical path from now until moving. That’s something I would have done ages ago, had I not told myself to stay focused only on the project. (I should have done it ages ago.)

Spent 1-1/4 hours on the project.

Just knocked an item off my to-do list that’s been bothering me for quite a bit. Feels good. Still have a couple more lingering that would feel good to get done, but they can wait…

Finding it tough to stay focused these days.
Looking at the good and trying to be grateful for the things I have. Might need to add the “grateful things” rule back next month.

Had a restless night, worrying about how will I get everything done, and do I even know what-all needs to get done.
Went to a medical appointment.
Then started making lists, looking up things, and formulating questions to ask the condo people. So things don’t look so bleak. Lists are good.

Worked for 2.5 hours on the project. Got husband to look at where I’m at, and help keep me focused on the important things instead of spinning my wheels pursuing details that don’t matter. So that helped. Got over a hump in the work, and I’m thinking/hoping it will be a little easier now.

Yay for lists and asking for feedback! That’s a great job you did, figuring out how to get back on track :-) Hope you sleep better tonight, too.

Having a good morning. Some days I am not able to make productive use of my time when I have a babysitter, but today I’m doing well with it. Trying not to think too much about the future, when I might not have a babysitter due to her schedule changing…if that happens, I can find someone new. I’ve done it before and can do it again.

Oh dear, the pressure’s really building up. I realized today – after setting it all aside over Christmas – that a bunch of things need to be done about the condo, things need to be lined up to happen at the right time, appointments made, etc. Moving logistics have to be arranged, supplies bought, storage facilities too (‘cause we’ll never make it, to shed all these possession in time).

I normally would have tended to all this a month ago – would have bought the boxes and tape already, made checklists – but I’ve been trying hard to focus exclusively on the project – which is also crucial to get done – but now I’m thinking that was a mistake. I should have kept both fronts moving at the same time.

So many details to get on top of. I keep telling myself that it will all work out, but today I’m really anxious about it.

So I have to keep on telling myself, “Never mind, it will all work out”. But not because the universe will take care of it or anything magical like that – but because we’ll somehow get our act together and scramble to make it happen.

Eek! I’m sorry you’re feeling stressed and overwhelmed. That’s completely understandable given all you have on your plate. I’m impressed by your ability to take things in perspective and realize that you WILL get through this. Weirdly, when I have a LOT on my plate, assuming I’m functional (and uh, that’s a lot to assume at many times!), things are actually easier because there’s less time for dithering and deliberating. You just have to roll up your sleeves and get to work. Maybe that will happen for you, and you’ll fall into a nice flow state? I’m rooting for you!!!

:) MaryAnn

Felt a little under the weather most of the day. Thought I was getting a cold, but I perked up this evening.

Husband made ginger cookies, with both fresh ginger and powdered ginger – they’re delicious. Except they contain very black molasses, and I’m not crazy about that flavour. But I concentrate on the ginger. I persuaded him to use honey or something next time. Or maybe maple syrup.

Spent 3.5 hours on the project. It’s going slow, but at least it’s going.

I’m sorry to read you were feeling under the weather. Are you on the road to recovery? Big hugs! Mmm, cookies. Black molasses is such a strong flavor. I personally prefer dark brown sugar in baked goods that call for it, but that’s probably not as healthy…heh. Also, brr. BRRRRRRR from over here too. Hope you’re comfy and cozy and warm!

Went to the vet to pay last week’s bill and return some unopened cat food, different kinds that our remaining cat doesn’t like. Also gave them one of our carrying crates that we don’t need anymore. I really like that vet and the staff there. Glad that’s done.

Spent 4 hours on the project. Some of it was productive, but some of it was me getting stuck because I couldn’t find some bit of paper. I need to not fret so much and just keep plowing through it. I don’t actually need to locate every bit of paper – I have other records to back things up. But there’s so much baggage around this task, that I get easily thrown off. I gave myself a pep talk, with my husband listening, so he can repeat it to me if needed.
Tomorrow, I’ll start off with that pep talk. It sounds like this:
All I have to do is X, this next step, and it’s actually really easy and mechanical.
… in other words:
Let’s just get to the bottom of this hill, Mr. Frodo.

Sooner or later this will be done. And that will be a very good day!

Spent the day avoiding work on the project, and then in the evening did 2-1/2 hours on it. But it wasn’t the most productive effort. It’s taking me a while to organize stuff and build up momentum after the holidays.

What I’d like to be doing is about 3-4 hours per day on most days. Not sure if I can reach that or not – but certainly at least 2 hours.
I think I can, I think I can….

There’s still a lot to do, and the volume of it is intimidating. I need to keep reminding myself of what Sam said to Frodo, in Return of the King:
“Let’s just get to the bottom of this hill, Mr. Frodo”.

I think I’ll write that down and prop it up on my desk

Spent most of the day cleaning up and rearranging the front bedroom, which I also use as an office (or something like that- it’s basically a bunch of LPs and books and a standing desk). It looks a lot better and is much more pleasant to be in now.

Making sourdough bread…I think. But I’m kinda stuck on the starter stage, not really sure where to go from here. My goal is sourdough boule in a dutch oven. I need to dedicate a little time this afternoon to reading about the next steps – leaven, autolyse, etc… And how to know my starter (which has been pretty much winged over the course of a week or so) is definitely ready and fed.

:) xiaolongbao

mmm, my starter is not yet ready, so made sourdough crackers with my discard and feed the starter. Might be ripe tomorrow, will have to see. The crackers are really yummy. I can tell I’ll be making them again soon :-)
