Hello fellow HM declutterers!, I just learned that you can ship boxes to Goodwill for FREE.

I think this is amazing, particularly since I have been mostly traveling to my Goodwill 30 minutes by subway wearing a baby.

Has anyone tried it? It almost seems too good to be true.

Not available in Canada yet, but they say they plan to include us soon.

It’s such a great idea! For me, getting the stuff there is a big obstacle to making donations to Goodwill.

When you are grieving or hurt by others and emotionally you are making slow progress but feel like you are not moving beyond what you are grieving and what hurt you, what do you do to take care of yourself and to encourage progress?

:) Smitha

I know exactly what you mean & have been having a tough time with this too. I found this talk by Jiddu Krishnamuri useful:
https://youtu.be/1Pknm8chH9E
Don’t know whether it’s your kind of thing, but i found it immediately calmed me. It’s a discussion on the nature of hurt and how it’s possible to have an ‘innocent mind’.

Another thing that i’ve found really helpful is to pour out my thoughts/ emotions daily at www.750words.com. I do this first thing in the morning, and then my head is much clearer. You could watch this talk by Julia Cameron about morning pages which i found inspiring:
http://juliacameronlive.com/basic-tools/morning-pages/

Also, it’s useful to be on the lookout for when stress (grief) hits you – to be aware of which thoughts trigger the stress. There’s often a kind of thought pattern one needs to escape. I use some techniques mentioned on this site to handle stress as soon as i’m aware of it:
http://www.helpguide.org/articles/stress/stress-relief-in-the-moment.htm

I think it’s most important that you actively search for solutions – on the net, books, from people, etc. You’re more likely to find something that suits you. And the search itself pulls you out of your situation. Good luck to you and hugs <3

:) HoopingFran50

Good suggestions above. I also suggest a gratitude journal – just write down three things you are grateful for every day. And then there is time…the schedule is different for all of us, and some hurts take more time than others, but the old adage about time healing all wounds is so true. Take good care of yourself, surround yourself with beauty whenever possible, do something constructive every day and take deep breathes. Best wishes to you.

:) MaryAnn

All good suggestions.

Remember that you have some control over what you place your attention on — i.e., you can change the channel on the TV, or skip to a different website. ;-)
It just may take a little practice and effort.

In that vein, I like a gratitude journal. Pay attention to what’s good and beautiful around you.

I also really like walking. Go for a walk in a place that makes you feel good.

And remember that everything passes – this too will pass.

:) MaryAnn

Another thought -
music is also very healing and soothing. Play some soothing music for yourself.

:) azurock

I find it helpful to move my body. To get outside. To walk.
Know that you are not alone in your grief. Know that others grieve. Not to deny your grief. Just to know that grief is normal. It is a part of life. It ebbs and flows. It is not as solid as it may appear. Notice that its intensity waxes and wanes.
Feel your feet on the ground. Be kind to yourself.

:) CynthiaR

What wonderful advice here! For me, it’s largely been about establishing a regular journalling and meditation practice; that’s grounding for me. I’ve also learned not to hold it all in and struggle, but to reaching out to trusted friends, or sometimes a counsellor, if that’s what’s called for.

I also love massage as a wonderful way to give myself the ultimate in self-care in an environment where I can just float away, safe and secure, with the right music and usually lovely scents.

Bud’s advice is lovely. I’m taking it ti heart right now for a situation in my life.

Has anyone heard of Tiny Habits? http://tinyhabits.com It claims to help build healthy habits in baby steps: for 5 days (M-F), you choose 3 “do” rules that can be completed in 30 seconds & which you peg to existing behaviors.

My very first Health Month rule fits his criteria: When I turn on the shower, I make my bed. So I’m thinking of giving it a try.

Gianna has a question about the Custom Do rule (days/week) rule.

Heart.half.16 6 · 1,617 pts

My custom rule is to keep a to do list.
Now that I focus on writing it, I do get a lot of ideas what I could do and what I have to do. But in the end I just don’t look at the list and end up in chaos. What about you? Do you keep a list? How do you organize it?

:) Gianna

so no help on this one hum? :(

:) SusanT

I do keep a list. At this point in my life, I have so many things on my plate that a list is essential. I do not generally do a daily to-do, just a project to-do. I find it extremely helpful. I keep it at my desk and try to check in with it each time I clear off my desk, about once a day. I have a large desk calendar where I also keep some of the to-do list, especially anything that carries over to a new month.

:) MaryAnn

One more reason to love dance studies is that it expands your brain. Learning salsa, I have to focus my attention on different parts of my body:
- read the signals from my teacher’s arm;
- think only about the footworks;
- don’t think at all;
- think about my arms;
- let myself go with my teacher’s energy, etc.
It really expands the ways of thinking. Luvit.

Is anyone using BUDGE? I have re-developed the everyday flossing habit, totally due to the daily BUDGE to go get it done! And the little victory of clicking the “DONE” button. lol – I swear the smallest things motivate me!

Hi All,

Hi Ron! Until the month actually begins, you should be able to Review Your Rules…and when you are in that screen, you can delete rules. At least that worked for me. Good luck!!

:) DavidB

Ron, to piggy back on Merril’s comment. You should be able to change the rules. I’ve had this problem as well and find I need to log off—get out of HM and come back and then start over editing. Kind of tedious, and, if there’s a better way I’d welcome hearing of it!

You can log off by hitting the ‘you’ button at the bottom left of the screen, Log out is one of the options.

You get one Do and one Don’t rule (for now; I think Buster is working on more custom rules). I’ve tried getting creative with it, including hijacking other rules. Maybe that’ll work for you?

:) CynthiaR

Hmmm, well one DO and one DON’T is TWO. I like Elke’s “hijack” plan for the others. Does that work for you, Mary Ann? I could pretend that “Call your mother every Tuesday” is really “Eat Something With Soy In It”, come to that. I think, with the custom text, Elke’s right about the way to do it.

:) MaryAnn

Thanks, Elke. Good idea!
That idea actually crossed my mind last night…
I looked over the other rules and thought, Hmmmm, how can I twist one of these into my custom rule?
I’ll try noodling that around.

And Cynthia…
I could twist the DON’T rule - e.g. DON’T NOT do such & such -- or DON’T miss the weekly total of 7 hours.
Ha! There’s a spot for a 2nd rule right there!

Excellent! Thanks.

:) MaryAnn

No idea why there’s a strike-through on that phrase above. I didn’t put it there.

:) DanielleW

I’ll take any tips on how to customize/hijack as well. I was planning to add four custom rules/habits in August like “Spend 30 minutes 5 days a week decluttering office paper work” (definitely for mental health).I’ll have to look through the list to see what sort of matches.

:) CynthiaR

Mary Ann, no idea on the strikethroughs either, though it COULD be that you have a ‘hyphen’ on either side of it. When I used "" to enclose something the other day, the result was that I deleted it. Something like html, or html, I don’t know the commands other than changing typefaces, etc without a cheat sheet but, for mine, putting things inside the " characters makes the system disregard it and that is html logic (if not my own!)

- this is a test -

:) CynthiaR

Nope, it’s not the dashes! But that wasn’t logical. And when I paste your statement in the box, it doesn’t end up with strikethrough either! Mary Ann, no idea on the strikethroughs either. – e.g. DON’T NOT do such & such — ah, the learning process!

:) elkit

It’s something like that though. (You get the bold by putting a star before and after.) testing

:) elkit

Ahh yes, I put dashes (and no spaces) around “testing” above.

:) MaryAnn

Thanks, C & E!

As for the italics — how did you DO that?

:) CynthiaR

For italics, you put "" at the start and "" at the end of what you want italicised. Sorta turns it on and turns it off. This won’t make any sense if the things inside the quotes disappear, of course. Hitting enter to find out…

:) CynthiaR

Although I (and others) sort of get around it by shoehorning the actual rules we want into the most similar available rule (which may not be all that similar). For example, for June I’m going to try to eat vegetarian two days a week. There’s no “allow meat” DON’T rule, and I’m already using my custom DON’T rule for something else, so I’m using the “allow saturated fat” rule to actually be my “allow meat” rule. (“Allow red meat” might be closer except I’m already doing that too.) I use the “personal notes” under a rule to remind myself of the real rule it’s standing in for.

I was doing so well this month, but then I got broken up with unexpectedly on Wednesday and it’s all fallen apart a bit. I’m trying to still do most of my rules as I need to really look after myself now, but one of them relates to therapy ‘homework’ which involved my boyfriend and so I can’t actually do it any more. I’m not sure how to deal with this, I’ve already lost two life points so far this week for this rule. Any thoughts?

:) sarahperiwinkle

Would you feel comfortable switching your therapy homework rule to just doing whatever it is you need to do to get through this? Mourn, think good thoughts about yourself, do something nice for yourself, or even just breathe. We won’t tell. Plus we have a lot of fruit to give away still.

Thanks guys. That’s a great idea about changing the rule, I think I might make it to do something nice for myself like you say. Heart.half.16 6 · 1,747 pts

Okay. So I didn’t quite realize how this worked when I set the time on my custom rule to “three times.” I meant three weeks out of four weeks of the month, not three times per week. So if I do it once, do I just give myself two “freebies?” And if I don’t, do I just hit “no” for one and “yes” for the other two?? In other words, my count for my custom rule should be 1, not 3. So do I just count one, and the other two are “freebie” yeses??

Does anyone have any suggestions for To Do list software that actually produces a nicely PRINTED OUT To Do list? I know there’s all kinds of things you can sync with pdas, but tasks aren’t ‘real’ to me unless they’re actually on paper, so I prefer to make my lists on the computer for neatness and then print them out to refer to. (Ideal would be something that let me have multi-layer To Do items, so I could break a large item down into smaller parts and have them all listed neatly under the original main item.)

:) Jeshyr

I used to use software but I have switched to hand-writing most of them now and putting repeating ones on my computer calendar (because it auto-repeats) then copying them to the hand-written notebook when I spot them. Hope you find a solution for you!

:) PirateFoxy

Yeah, writing by hand for any length of time hurts too much. Stupid arthritis.

I find that since I use a notebook where I just add new things to the end and cross of things that are done (or no longer need doing) that I’m never writing a lot all at once – only one or two lines. Not saying it’d definitely work for you, but I can’t write much at once either – I probably couldn’t write an entire todo list for example – but since I add stuff gradually I’ve made it work for me!

ANEKA BENTUK SIRIP CUPANG HIAS

Tipe cagak disebut
juga split tail. Apabila posisi sirip punggung sejajar dengan posisi sirip perut disebut
double tail super delta.

3. Tipe Serit Tunggal

7. Tipe Highfin / Halfstand
Posisi sirip punggung berdiri tegak. Pangkal sirip punggung hampir sama

mengembang membentuk gelembung seperti balon. Cupang bertipe serit balon
berpenampilan sangat gagah sehingga seringkali dijuluki maskulin crown tail.

10. Tipe Merak
Tipe ekor serit merak sepintas mirip serit ganda, hanya berbeda pada panjang
ekor. Serit berekor pendek, mekar dan bulat. Sirip perut dan sirip punggung
lebih panjang jika dibandingkan dengan sirip ekor. Tipe merak disebut
juga peacock crown tail.

TERNAK CUPANG

Ciri-ciri khusus IKAN CUPANG JANTAN

Umur ± 4 bulan
Bentuk badan dan siripnya panjang dan berwarna indah.
Gerakannya agresif dan lincah.
Kondisi badan sehat (tidak terjangkit penyakit).

Ciri-ciri IKAN CUPANG BETINA

Umur telah mencapai sekitar 4 bulan
Bentuk badan membulat putih di sekitar perut menandakan siap kawin.
Gerakannya lambat.
Sirip pendek dan warnanya tidak menarik.
kondisi badan sehat.

Pemijahan dan perawatan ikan

Setelah induk cupang hias dipersiapkan begitu pula dengan wadahnya maka langkah selanjutnya adalah melakukan pemijahan :

1. Persiapkan wadah baskom/akuarium kecil dan bersih. 2. Isi wadah dengan air bersih dengan ketinggian 15 – 30 Cm. 3. Masukkan induk ikan cupang jantan lebih dahulu selama 1 hari. 4.
